Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
Telidioma exists to help you learn languages by watching YouTube, and for that to work some data has to be processed. Here we explain, without legalese, what we collect, why, who we share it with and what your rights are. We collect the minimum necessary and we do not sell your data.
1. Who we are
Telidioma is a browser extension and a website (telidioma.com) that make YouTube subtitles interactive. For privacy matters, reach us at contato@telidioma.com.
2. What we collect
In the extension (while you watch)
- Subtitle text from the video you are watching, sent to our server only to generate the translation.
- Words and phrases you look up (by clicking or hovering), to return the translation and the explanation.
- An anonymous identifier generated in your own browser, used only for fair use limits. It does not identify you.
- Preferences, your saved vocabulary and the translation cache, kept locally in your browser, not on our server. You can erase them at any time by removing the extension or clearing browser data.
In your account
- Your email, to create the account and sign in (magic link or Google).
- If you sign in with Google: we receive your email and the name on your Google account. We have no access to your Google password.
- A session token to keep you signed in.
In the subscription (payment)
- Credit card payment happens entirely on Stripe's page. Card data is typed there and never passes through our servers.
- We never store bank details or your card number, under any circumstance. We keep only the identifiers the processor returns to us, so we can recognise your subscription.
3. How we use the data
- Generate translations, definitions and examples for subtitles and words.
- Maintain your account, your login and your subscription.
- Apply fair use limits so the service stays sustainable.
- Improve the product and provide support when you ask for it.
We use a shared cache of translations on the server: once a subtitle line has been translated, we reuse that translation for everyone, which makes the service cheaper and faster. That cache stores only the translated text, with no link to whoever requested it.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share the minimum necessary with providers that make the service work (subprocessors):
- Anthropic (Claude), generates the translations and explanations. Receives the subtitle text and words to translate.
- Stripe, processes credit card payments. Receives card data directly from your browser, without passing through us.
- Google, when you choose to sign in with Google (authentication).
- Railway, hosts our server and database.
- Vercel, hosts the website.
- Cloudflare, routes traffic to our API and tells us the country of the request so we can show the right currency.
- Resend, sends the login emails (magic link).
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram): when we run ads, the measurement pixel records your visit and basic actions on the site (opening the subscription page, clicking install), and our server reports a few usage milestones from the extension (for example, when you reach the daily limit of the free plan), so we can tell whether the ad worked. In those events you are identified only by the pixel’s own cookie and by an internal code of ours: we never send your name, email or tax ID.
We may also disclose data if required by law or court order.
5. Where the data lives
- In your browser: preferences, saved vocabulary and translation cache.
- On our server: your account (email), subscription status and the shared translation cache (with no link to individuals).
International transfer: our servers are in Brazil, and the providers above operate in other countries. By using Telidioma from outside Brazil, your data is processed in Brazil and in the regions where those providers operate.
6. How long we keep it
We keep account data for as long as the account exists. If you delete your account, we erase the data associated with it (respecting legal retention periods, such as tax records for payments). Data stored locally in your browser stays under your control and disappears when you erase it or remove the extension.
7. Your rights
At any time you can:
- Access the data we hold about you;
- Correct incorrect data;
- Request deletion of your account and your data;
- Ask for your data to be exported;
- Withdraw consent and object to particular uses.
We offer these rights to everyone, wherever you are, regardless of which privacy law applies to you. To exercise any of them, write to contato@telidioma.com.
8. Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Our login is passwordless (magic link or Google), which removes the risk of leaked passwords. Integration keys (AI and payment) live only on the server, never in the extension or in your browser. No system is completely infallible, but we work to protect your data with good practices.
9. Minors
Telidioma is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 18, use the service with the consent and supervision of a responsible adult.
10. Cookies
The site uses only the essential storage needed to keep you signed in (session token). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. When there are relevant changes, we update the date at the top and, when it makes sense, we tell you.
